French-Canadian singer-songwriter from the Ottawa region, Al Sam blends beachside vibes with R&B into a sound that’s both timeless and deeply personal. His music explores love, growth, and human connection, shaped by a life of hardship and self-discovery.

Once a rebellious youth who turned to the military to confront his inner struggles, a career-ending injury led him back to music, not as an escape, but as a means of expression and connection. Now a key figure in Ottawa’s independent scene, he focuses on building community through art.

His 2024 release, Crave You, unpacks the complexities of love and perspective. With a studio album on the way, Al Sam continues to share his passion, whether solo, with Catching Rain, or through his many projects (Duo, Trio, and Band).

AL SAM | Catching Rain

BIO:

Catching Rain represents a love of life in all its forms. With Maya bumpin' on the sax, Ben judiciously (and masterfully) leading from the drums, Joe grooving from the bass, Matt jazzy riffin' on guitar, and Al Sam singing, the band blends into a rich and unique sound.

Made up of musicians with varied backgrounds, the group has found something special together. Catching Rain isn’t just about the music; it’s about embracing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It’s a celebration of the power of attitude, finding beauty in the storms, and dancing in the rain.
